IRISS Project – EFCC is a project partner in the EU IRISS Project aiming to accelerate the transition to safe and sustainable materials, products and processes

IRISS is a three-year project funded by the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe which started in June 2022. IRISS stands for The international ecosystem for accelerating the transition to Safe-and-Sustainable-by-design materials, products and processes.

As a member of the IRISS Project, EFCC is actively contributing to this major EU initiative to accelerate the transition to safe and sustainable materials, products and processes. The main objective of this Horizon project is to establish an EU led international community on sustainable-by-design materials to support embedding sustainability criteria over the life cycle of products and processes (CSA). It will build a network of stakeholders, including companies, researchers, authorities, and other societal actors, to support this transition.

Withing the framework of the project a partnership of some 20 partners with a broad range of expertise has already been created. Seven value chains are represented: Textiles (creative industry), Construction (construction chemicals), Automotive, Packaging - consumer products, Detergents/personal care, Energy and Electronic products. EFCC represents one of the key ‘Eco-Systems’ i.e. Construction.
