This technical report published by JRC in July 2022 presents a framework for the definition of criteria and evaluation procedure for safe and sustainable by design chemicals and materials. It was developed in support of the EU CSS action plan which foresees the development of a framework to define safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) criteria for chemicals and materials.

This report presents the dimensions, aspects, methods and indicators that can be used to assess chemicals and materials and how criteria can be defined in order to identify those chemicals and materials that are SSbD.
