EFCC and EFCA Unite to Form ECC – European Construction Chemicals

The European Federation for Construction Chemicals (EFCC) and the European Federation of Concrete Admixtures Associations (EFCA) have merged to form ECC – European Construction Chemicals, creating a single, strong European association for the construction chemicals sector. Headquartered in Brussels, ECC will represent associations and companies that play a key role in Europe’s building and construction industry.

Construction chemicals play a vital role in enabling durable, resource-efficient and high-performance buildings and infrastructure, thereby supporting the transition towards a more circular, innovative and resilient European economy. The creation of ECC therefore marks an important milestone for the European construction chemicals industry. By bringing together two well-established and highly respected organisations, ECC will provide a unified platform representing associations and businesses that are essential to the building and construction industry in Europe.

A stronger and more coherent voice at European level

The establishment of ECC reflects a shared vision to unite resources, combine deep technical expertise, and bring together a broad and diverse membership across Europe.

Located in Brussels, at the heart of European decision-making, ECC will provide a more coherent and effective voice for the sector at European level. The association will foster cooperation across the construction value chain and with downstream users of chemicals, promote innovation, engage in the future development of concrete and support the safe and sustainable use of chemicals.

Through this merger, ECC strengthens the sector’s capacity to engage proactively with policymakers and stakeholders and will be well positioned to support key European initiatives on implementation across Member States and the standardisation of the construction industry.

ECC looks forward to continuing working closely with European institutions, partner organisations and industry stakeholders to help shape a competitive, innovative and sustainable future for Europe’s construction ecosystem.

Statements of industry leaders on the creation of ECC

Dr. Ekkehard zur Mühlen, former President of the European Federation for Construction Chemicals (EFCC):

“The creation of ECC is a natural and forward-looking step for our industry. By joining forces, we are consolidating our activities, delivering clarity vis-à-vis our stakeholders and policymakers in Europe. It is an exciting platform for member associations and companies to engage their best resources in the merged association, and a great platform to widen our activities and scope over the years to come.”

Gianluca Bianchin, former President of the European Federation of Concrete Admixtures Associations (EFCA):

“This merger reflects our common ambition to speak with one strong voice and to build on the strengths of both organisations. ECC will provide an even more effective platform to support our members and to contribute to a resilient, sustainable and competitive construction ecosystem in Europe.”
